Background
Marine Technologies LLC offers satellite communication solutions to the commercial shipping and offshore market under the Trade Mark C-Comm, which covers the VSAT technology (including antennas and below deck equipment), the bandwidth and its management, the communication security and content services. As a part of the C-Comm development, MT introduced a new carbon fibre Ku Band Antenna in February 2009, produced by Radio Marine Italy for MT and with test results indicating a performance exceeding that of antennas presently available in the market.
MT C-COMM Basic VSAT Course Training Program
The C-Comm as a concept must be supported by a global network of technicians with the necessary capacity and competence within installation, commissioning and service of the new antenna and other relevant communication equipment. Therefore, on 23-28 February 2009, MT organized a basic training course to ensure such capacity and competence, whereupon both internal MT personnel and partners worldwide participated. The syllabus for this course covered the minimum required competence for MT C-Comm VSAT service personnel, including:
- MT Communication business model
- The C-Comm concept
- RM/MT antennas – The technology, installation, commissioning & service
- Intelsat – Satellite Communication Basics
